In addition to our private and semi-private instructions we offer 8 week classes that will meet each week for 1 hour. Learn lyric writing, lead guitar, music theory or rhythm guitar and amaze your friends and family with your rock star performance.

We’ll look at songs as stories, with plots and settings, and learn several different approaches to writing and editing lyrics. You’ll learn analysis of poetic meter and form, and how lyrics differ from poems.  You’ll write a complete lyric, and have it critiqued in class.

Introduction to Lead Guitar

We’ll cover the common  techniques of ‘lead guitar’. You’ll learn finger drills to build dexterity, speed and more! Using the pentatonic scale (the one most commonly used in rock, blues, and pop music) you’ll learn fingerings through the entire range of the fretboard.

Music Theory

We’ll start with the basic elements of sound, and how rhythms and pitches are written.  After that we’ll cover scales, intervals, and chord construction.  You’ll learn all the major and minor key signatures, and how to interpret chord symbols.  Your instructor wrote the best selling book “Music Theory for Guitarists”.

Introduction to Rhythm Guitar

You’ll learn how to count and play basic rhythm patterns.  You will  learn major, minor, and 7th chords in several keys You’ll also learn to strum along with 10 different songs
